17 March 2023 • The COVID-19 epidemic has affected Vietnam’s tourism industry, causing the revenue of tourism services to decline, especially in famous tourist areas such as Sapa and Lao Cai. This situation has greatly affected the lives of tourism communities and ethnic groups who make their living through tourism.
To adapt to Vietnam’s opening to international tourism, online marketing needs to be promoted to support the tourism community, the Center for Rural Economic Development (CRED) has just organized a training course about Marketing and promoting online tourism services for more than 80 students of Dao do, Giay, H’Mong, Nung ethnic groups from Ta Phin, Ta Van, Muong Ha and Ban Ho communes, in Sa Pa since March 14 to 21, 2022. The course provides knowledge to help ethnic groups access today’s popular online tourism marketing tools:
Learn about basic marketing channels and social networks
How to optimize website channels and post content on the website
Create content and take photos to post on social networks such as Facebook, Zalo…
Search engine optimization
Create an account with an online travel agency (OTA) like Booking or Agoda to increase income
Use design tools like Canva to create logos, photos, etc.
The community has learned to standardize the content and images on the channels as a result of the training, and they have also improved their skills in selling services and connecting with potential customers. As a result, students can apply the knowledge they have learned to their family business.
The activity is within the framework of the GREAT Project “Gender Responsive Equitable Agriculture and Tourism” funded by the Australian Government, by Australian Government, and implemented by CRED and Sapa’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
